Diaper Rash Cream - not just for kids anymore

On our way home from the 50K, we bought diaper rash cream. I've previously used Neosporin to deal with chafing, and it works ok. But this was epic chafing, huge red welts all over my body, unlike anything I'd dealt with in the past. It hurt to sit, it hurt to move. My muscles were sore but the chafing was the real problem.

I took an ice bath. It didn't help the chafing.

I took a shower. Eric woke up from a dead, headache induced sleep to check on me because of the screaming.

I put the diaper rash cream on. This morning, I was no longer in pain.

I tried to take a picture but my skin is so pale that it just reflected the flash so you can't see anything, and now all the wounds are covered in diaper rash cream so you can't see them anyway. Just trust me, it's bad.

On an unrelated note, about 5 and a half years ago my friend Nicole won a free happy hour at a piano bar called Howl at the Moon. When I walked in, I overheard this hot bouncer saying he was a teacher. Only having moved to Baltimore a few months prior, I figured I could use all the teacher friends I could get, especially of the sexy/can get me into bars free variety, so I jumped in to inform him that I was a teacher as well. He told me that was nice and went back to the conversation which I had so rudely interrupted.

We didn't get cozy like this the night we met, but this is us at Howl at the Moon shortly after. Let's just say my first year of teaching didn't treat me too well.

Later on, we started actually talking to each other and he gave me his phone number, and the next weekend he picked me up for a date.

Here we are, not long after we started dating in 2006.

3 years ago on this day, instead of being covered in diaper rash cream, I was trying to look my most beautiful ever as I prepared to marry the bouncer from Howl at the Moon.

So, I'm not going to go into some sappy love letter about why I love him, blah blah blah, because he doesn't read the blog and I'm assuming that all my intelligent readers have figured out that since I married a teacher I wasn't using him for his money. BUT since I take any opportunity to relive/show off wedding pics, this is a pretty good one.

Our wedding dance started with Forever, by Jesse and the Rippers, and turned into Soulja Boy, which then turned in to Ms. New Booty. I really need to figure out how to upload a video.

And obviously our wedding had karaoke. This is our Baby Got Back performance.

Turns out we didn't know Eminem's "Lose Yourself" any better than Carolyn and I knew
"My Humps" on Saturday.
Taking the shuttle back to the hotel. No overpriced limos for this cheap bride.

Best day of my life. It was perfect. We'll be eating special anniversary cake that I am in the process of making and watching the video tonight. Usually we do our wedding dance but I'm not sure if that will be possible due to yesterday's activities.

Was there anyone at your wedding that you now not so secretly want to cut out of the pictures?

The girl standing behind me and mom in the pic where we are dancing in the black and white dress was a friend of my sister's until she totally screwed her over and now she's public enemy number one in my mind. It was still the best wedding ever though.

  1. Aren't you so happy I told you about the wonders of diaper cream? :)

I'm kind of mad that I wasn't invited to fun party of your wedding. "I didn't know you then" seems like a weaksauce excuse.
