Bad choices

I've made a terrible choice in life and I'm now suffering the consequences.

Yes, those would be delicious Tagalongs paired with some new crap Girl Scout cookie instead of the winning pair of Tagalongs and Thin Mints. One of my students is quite a saleswoman, and managed to talk me into buying two boxes. You may think talking me into dessert sounds similar to talking Lindsay Lohan into doing a shot, and you'd be right. But she actually did have to lay on the charm, because did you know Girl Scout cookies are now $4 a box? This meant that she had to battle with both my inherent cheapness AND the fact that I used to sell cookies for $2/box which made me feel really old.

Due to this ridiculous inflation, I had to make some tough choices. I spent all of recess mulling it over, marking my choices on the sheet, only to scribble them out and redo them. In the end, I decided on the Dulce de Leche because it was new and exciting and foreign sounding.

Let me save you $4 and advise you to always go with Thin Mints, or at least a known cookie. The new foreign fancy ones are a joke. Let's not even talk about the fact that when my student's father dropped the cookies off he told me that he crumbled up a bunch of Samoas in milk and ate it like cereal and I didn't order Samoas so now I'll have to wait another year to experience that joy. Why does life have to be so hard?

I thought things were looking up when I turned to TV to cheer me up.

But it's New Moon. The worst of the Twilight series. My suffering continues (although I'm still going to watch it).

All good things have to come to an end, and it looks like my super special streak of unicorns and rainbows running is over. This morning I was back to "sleeping is so much more fun at 5am than running", also known as the mindset of a sane person. Luckily, the second book in the Maze Runner series got me through nine miles.

At this point, I have no Halloween costume, and I really don't have time to create one between work, grad school, making candy corn ice cream, my social life, and spending somewhere around 5 hours driving on Sunday just so I can spend all day running in the woods on a mountain. It's rough being me. My options are now in the "what crap that I already own can I throw together into a costume?" camp.

Kara tried to help me out by sending me this.

Naturally, I appreciate her efforts, but, bitch please, do you even know who you are dealing with? Been there, done that.

What bad choice have you made lately? I may need therapy for my cookie regret.

  1. Samoas are also a viable option, although I will always pick Thin Mints first. We didn't get any Girl Scout cookies this year and I'm sure I will regret it. Anyways, I'm useless in the Halloween costume suggestion department. I finally decided not to do a group theme because it was making me too crazy.

  2. My bad choice today was just getting a 6 inch Subway sub. I mean, yeah those 2 cookies were a good call, but just half a sub? What was I thinking??

I'm still dying at that picture.

  4. I'm more traumatized that I haven't seen a Girl Scout yet! Is ordering time over?! I need to track one down! If I don't buy stock in Tagalongs and Samoas, heads will roll.

  5. If you really really want thin mints or samosa I can score you a box on Wednesday November 7th at Anna's next girl scout meeting!!!
In terms of things I regret, that would be my last 2 relationships. Big regrets. Not my horribly miserably failed marriage tho cause of my amazing daughters!

  6. The cookies are actually smaller in size/diameter too. They are lucky they have such a world-wide following (and that their sales people are adorable little kids). I've made the mistake of ordering a weird flavor some years. You just don't mess with the classics.

This post made me LOL at the Twilight joke. :)

  8. I am watching New Moon too! I cracked up so loudly at the spring action booty! :) Thank you for that- it's good to laugh every day & I don't think I do it enough. Also, thanks for the cookie tip- I usually get Tagalongs & Thin Mints, sometimes Samoas, so I'll take that advice & not fix what isn't broken.

  10. Can't go wrong with Thin Mints but we can't buy them or we will eat box after box.

Now I'll be singing Baby Got Back in my head for the rest of the night. Gotta love that song!

  11. No Samoas and no Thin Mints?!?! What were you thinking??

Frozen Thin Mints are like crack.

Bad choices lately? Sleeping through this morning's run. So now I need to run tomorrow morning and I have a 730am conference call. Boo.

  13. I can't believe you didn't go with thin mints or samoas. At least you got Tagalongs, but still. I haven't seen a girl scout in forever. I'm hoping they'll be selling outside of the grocery store this week, but $4 for a box is INSANE, mostly because I usually buy like 4 boxes. Life is so hard.

  14. Oh my gosh. That last picture is HILARIOUS. :)

I am so happy there are year round knockoffs of thin mints I can buy in the store. Because Girl Scout cookies ARE espensive!!!

  15. Thin mints have crack in them. True story. That's the only logical explanation for the fact that I can eat an entire half a box in one sitting.

There's got to be a better way for Girl Scouts to make money when inflation has caused them to cost $4 a box! I remember when two boxes were $5. When did we get so OLD?

    2. Once you factor in how many 7-11s where I'll want to see what they have to eat.
