Ugly Sweaters and Football

After racing home from work on Friday, grabbing Amanda, and heading to Kara's for the sleepover and the race, the rest of the weekend continued in at a similar frenetic pace. I like weekends like that, they make me feel like I actually have a life other than my job and watching TV.

On Saturday, by the time I got home from the epic disaster otherwise known as the Hot Chocolate 15K, I barely had time to figure out how to put it all into words for the blog post before we had to leave for my friend Angela's ugly sweater party. I brought chocolate wine, to continue with the day's theme, and it was delicious.

Some of the people that make going to work tolerable

Eric was a bit sleepy from the race
I was apparently sleepy as well, because I slept from midnight until nearly 10am, which is extremely rare for me.  After some coffee and blog reading, it was time for a redemption run. I headed out and did 8 miles at an average 8:46 pace. The first five were easy, and I pushed it for the last 3 (those were an average 8:23). That wasn't a planned thing, it's just what happened. It's pretty sad that I ran faster than I did during the an actual race the previous day, on a much hillier route. That just shows how crowded it was.

I was so excited when I was greeted with this when I got home.

If that's what I look like after running, it's a miracle I've made any friends through that sport.
Notice anything strange about this picture? I'm posing with a Christmas tree, on December 4th, after running in a skirt and t - shirt. I'm not complaining, because I love it, it's just odd.

Soon after that, we had our friends Casi, Donnie, Carolyn, and John over to watch the football game. Our team, the Ravens, played the Cleveland Browns, Eric's team. When I say our team, I mean the city of Baltimore, because I have no devotion to any team, and could barely pay attention to the game for more than half a second without getting bored, but, luckily, everyone was into socializing while watching, so it was fun.

I was more excited about a massive amount of Chinese food.

Carolyn and John brought ice cream, which obviously excited me even more.

Do you prefer crazy busy social weekends, or quieter ones? I definitely need a mix of both to stay sane, but this one was so much fun!

  2. I like a little bit of both, but Saturday's crazy was enough to keep me home all of Sunday :).

This weekend we're having our annual Christmas party, though, and every weekend following we have Christmas celebrations. December is going to be awesome!

  3. I like a little bit of both. I can do one crazy weekend, but then I need about 12 calm quiet weekends to get myself back together. Yes, 12. It wears me out. I have no idea how I was "social" at least 5 nights a week in college.

  4. I can't wait for my ugly Christmas sweater party! The best part about it is that I got my sweater straight from my mom's closet :)

  5. Your weekend sounds like a lot of fun buuuuut I tend to prefer quieter ones! When they are busy I feel like they go by WAY too fast! Our tree looks great and so do you! I would totally still be your friend :)

  7. Chocolate wine? Really? You must share the name. Never heard of it. I'd rather be busy then bored! A doctor I heard speak yesterday said your social network helps you live longer. Good for me! Jealous of the short sleeves & shorts! Looks awesome!

  10. I like crazy busy weekends, but not EVERY weekend. I like my lazy weekends so much too. Like this past one - I watched more than one episode of Boy Meets World and thought of you!

  11. My weekends are typically 3-4 days long, so I have time for the crazy and the calm. I really really enjoy this.

Chinese food is fantastic after a long run. So is ice cream. Yummmmmmm.

  12. I like one crazy busy weekend for every four. That way I have fun, but get to be lazy a lot too. Love the ugly sweater party picture. You're too cute by the tree in your skirt and short sleeves, I'm a little jealous.

  13. Your hubby decorated the tree?? You all seriously found some awesome guys to marry. Maybe you rubbed off on me this weekend :)

  14. "After racing home from work on Friday, grabbing Amanda, and heading to Kara's"
I enjoy this phrasing. I visualize you driving through your parking lot and sticking me in your trunk or something.

I like my weekends to be a mix. Friday/Saturday was crazy. Sunday I slept til 9, we got breakfast out, then I have no idea what I did for the rest of the day, probably just read 15k recaps to relive the horror.
