Tempo Run Thursday

As soon as I got home from work yesterday, I put on my trail shoes to break them in on an easy 3 mile road run (as opposed to breaking them in on my 22 mile trail run with Kara this weekend).

It was really cold for May, in fact, I wore a sweater, pants, and socks and shoes to school yesterday and spent the day shivering with blue fingers.

Eric was prepping for his run too.

But, the weather was perfect for running. Since I wasn't trying to push the pace, and my run was music - less, I was pretty surprised to see my average pace.
8:35?? And I felt good the whole time? What's going on here?

After that I did Jillian Michael's No More Trouble Zones - the whole thing (sometimes I do the express version and skip the last three circuits).

Seriously, if you want to see why people are always crying and throwing up during workouts on the Biggest Loser, try one of her DVDs.

After that we watched the makeover episode of The Biggest Loser, and I cried. I am obsessed with that show. Anyone else?

This morning I got up and tried something new that I got from my race on Thursday.
I was pretty impressed that for only 80 calories, it had four grams of protein and 10% of my daily iron. Also, I usually am not a big lemon flavored person but it was delicious. Also, I totally didn't plan on "reviewing" it this morning but I guess that happened.

7 mile tempo run (12 hours after squatting and lunging like crazy with Jillian)
9:55 (warmup)
8:21
8:34
8:35
8:45
8:15
9:34 (cooldown)

I'm pretty happy with that!

Happy Cinco de Mayo! (FYI I just googled it and I spelled it right on the first try! Almost never happens!
Also Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! An awesome teacher at my school suggested that we choose a name at get that person a gift so that on Tuesday (the actual teacher appreciation day) we would all feel appreciated. My person HOOKED ME UP! Get ready for some awesome snacks on Saturday, Kara (and Lily if you are reading this!).

  1. I have never actually seen an episode of Biggest Loser. I do have people at work that call me Jillian Michaels though after I "encouraged" people during our pedometer challenge

  2. Ahh Jillian. I love her.

I had a tempo run yesterday and it ended in massive failure. Nice work on yours! Hopefully next time will be a little easier.

  3. Speed must be contagious. Either you gave it to me or I gave it to you :)

I love Luna bars, I used to eat so many of those when Faith was first born and I needed a quick snack!

  4. I need to try that flavor of Luna bar! I have a love/hate relationship with Jillian!

  5. I own Jillian's No More Trouble Zones video, and have never tried it! I own two others of hers as well. The Blast Fat one is the one I do most often. In fact, it's almost too easy now. Crazy, right?

I do like The Biggest Loser. Sometimes it's rather cheesy and I just don't like Jillian (and yet I own her workout videos. I think my annoyance with her helps me work hard, or something like that), but I do like to see all the progress the contestants make.

Luna bars are awesome and the lemon one is my favorite!
