I love bloggers

Within a few hours of this race sending out a promotional email, I got at least 3 texts/emails demanding that I sign up. Well, if you insist.

I like running, but clearly here's the real reason I'm signed up.

I also love blogging (not as much as chocolate, but still, a lot). I've technically "met" three fellow bloggers in real life so far. Kara, just recently Jessica, and Shelly, if you count grabbing someone in the pitch black woods at mile 40-something of a race and screaming their name as a "meeting". Blogger meetups don't have to just be frozen yogurt.
I felt I had to further illustrate my love of chocolate.

Obviously, all of those turned out to be great (ok, not the one with Shelly, I was in pure hell at that time, but based on her blog and our email exchanges, actually meeting her in a normal fashion would have fantastic and I really hope I get to someday). I know I'll get made fun of my certain real life friends for saying this, but after reading about someone's life every day, tweeting, and emailing them all the time, when it comes time to actually meet, you feel like you've already known them so long, it's weird because it's not weird. I'm pro online dating, and online friending.

The point of this is my blog friends - turned official real life friends is about to significantly increase tonight. Kara is hosting a slumber party of several bloggers who will be running the hot chocolate race tomorrow: Kari, Emily, Amanda, and, of course, me. This is essentially the most exciting event of my life. I "talk" to these girls through email and twitter pretty much every single day, and I love slumber parties, racing, and chocolate to begin with, so meeting them in person, finally, and getting to race with them is the best thing ever.

A bunch of other awesome people will be running tomorrow: Victoria, another blogger who loves chocolate as much as I do, and I am dying to meet, my training buddies, Jackie and Lily, my long time BFFs Casi and Katylin (Katylin just recently completed her first 5K and 8K so I am so excited for her!) and my loving husband - did I forget anyone?
I love chocolate. And beaver faces.

The icing on the cake would be if my calves calm down enough so I can scratch an itch without crying in pain. I understand the arm soreness, but I was kind of under the impression I used my calves in running, so why are they being such whiny bitches about a little cross training?

I've never done a 15K, so whatever I get will be a PR, but obviously I'll be gunning for the finish, because there's a chocolate fountain there. The downside is its DC and there are 20,000 runners showing up, so I am having scary flashbacks of the Marine Corps Marathon, except this time I'll be tripping people on purpose to get to the chocolate.

Have you ever met a fellow blogger, and was it as fabulous as it was for me?

  1. Online friending = awesome. Online dating = disaster

I so can't wait for tonight. I can't believe it's here already! I'm pretty sure I'll be tripping people for the HOT chocolate. It's going to be nuts-busting cold outside!

  2. Seeing Kristy from run the long road at the Philly expo was my first time meeting another blogger in real life. It's less weird to talk to and read about people all the time if you meet them in real life, right? Looking forward to tonight and tomorrow!

  6. I want to be a part of a blogger slumber party and run for chocolate with internet friends! There is one local blogger I've seen and shouted to on two race courses, but that's it.

  9. I met friends through the forums on RunnersWorld. We used to talk all the time (still talk to some of them) and we eventually planned a group trip to Vegas!! It was amazing. One of those girls also became my roommate and eventually, my maid of honor.

    Pro-online friending right here :)

  10. We're running 41 miles tonight, out & back from Kara's, just to prove we can, right? And to warm up your calves.

  12. I haven't met any of my blogger friends. That's what I get for living in west Texas. I DO know Tara @ Dashing in Pearls since we worked together before she moved to Houston.

  14. I met my husband through the internet in 1995. Hmmm, jury is out if that's working out. Blogger friends? I live here in Columbus with a bunch of them and getting to know them better through it. I'd love to be joining you, Kari, Kara & Emily tomorrow! You all come up when I see the local bloggers I know (runningonwords) like you are our BFFs.

    Good luck tomorrow!
