Marathon Day, Take 2!!!

For the Baltimore Marathon I managed to sleep till 5am. This time it was 4:30. If I keep doing marathons I might as well just not go to sleep at all. It's all good though, insomnia = time to write blog posts. This may be my first ever pre - coffee post. I'm drinking it right now, but its cooling down and hasn't hit my system yet, so if things sound like they were written by a crack addict you know why.

I woke up to a good luck message from my mom on facebook. I am so nervous so it was exactly what I needed!
The most important part is right here:
Good luck, and HAVE FUN!!!!!
I think I've been so caught up in paces, time goals, nutrition and hydration I forgot the whole point of running a marathon is to have fun. (Some may not agree with me, but we all have our own definitions of fun.)

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE all the good luck comments people have been posting for me - thanks so much! You guys have no idea how much it means to me.

I am so much more nervous about this marathon than Baltimore, probably because:
1. I'm not planning to run it with a friend
2. Its unfamiliar territory
3. I actually have a time goal this time
4. I'm crazy
(I made that list an ugly color on purpose)

I get Runner's World quotes in my email every day and I got this one last week, it just THAT PERFECT:
"The more you frame the marathon as a stressful experience, the more negative messages you'll receive. But it's just as easy to frame it as a positively challenging journey".

LOVE IT! Been trying to keep it in mind all week and I need to get it in my head right now!

So let's focus on the positives
1. Yesterday at the start of the race I couldn't wait to run, and now it's time to!
2. The course looks beautiful from what I saw yesterday.
3. I love races where everyone dresses up.
4. FLAT COURSE
5. I have an amazingly supportive husband that gets up at 5am to stand outside in the cold for hours to cheer me on when I run by him for 5 seconds....which will happen 3 times at most
6. I made an awesome playlist, my ipod deleted it, and I didn't go into panic attack mode, I just made another one
7. ITS NOT RAINING
8. My body feels good (knock on wood)
9. The Gu flavors I brought are delicious
10. My name is on my bib
11. The marathon bibs are different colors than the half marathon ones so I get to feel hardcore
12. I LOVE RUNNING  - and I especially love racing!

Clearly the positives far outweigh the negatives. I seriously feel so different right now then I did when I sat down to start this blog post. I love blogging, and thanks so much to everyone who bothers to read my random ramblings.

Time to deck myself out in green, eat my sandwich thin and fourth banana in 24 hours (can't be too careful, don't want any cramps!), head to the race and Run 26.2 miles!!!
